Transform a Plain Lampshade with Crochet & Beads: If you love crocheting in the round, why stop at hats and cowls? With this pattern, you’ll learn how to turn an ordinary lampshade into a stunning statement piece using a delicate crochet stitch pattern. Plus, I’ll show you how to add a simple beaded edging that catches the light beautifully, adding an elegant finishing touch.
This project was inspired by a pair of lamps someone was ready to toss out. Seeing their plain white shades, I envisioned them as blank canvases, perfect for creative embellishment. I considered needle felting, hairpin lace, and other techniques, but inspiration struck when I glanced at one of my Sweet Clara Tops. The intricate stitch pattern seemed ideal for allowing light to glow through the openwork design, and I knew a scalloped edge with beading would take it to the next level. Excited by the idea, I rummaged through my supplies and found the perfect beads to complement my room’s red decor—proof that sometimes, the best projects come from a spark of inspiration and a little bit of serendipity!
Now, I’m thrilled to share this refreshed pattern with you, including both even in rows chart and photo tutorial for swatching purposes, and even in rounds chart and step by step written instructions to learn how to crochet this gorgeous home decor masterpiece! Whether you’re upcycling an old lamp or adding a handmade touch to your home decor, this crochet lampshade pattern will bring warmth and beauty to any space. Let’s get started!
