What you will need:
- 918 yds (840m) #4 worsted weight yarn
- K/10.5 (6.5mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors

Be So Vivid Yarn; 70% cotton, 30% acrylic, #4 worsted weight, self striping yarn; 306 yds (280m) per 3.5oz (100g) ball; shown in color You Look Mauve-olous, 3 balls.
Finished Size:
17 in (43.2cm) wide x 63 in (160cm) long.
Gauge:
Each motif is 3 in (7.6cm) square.
Stitch Guide:
Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), double crochet 6 together (dc6tog), double crochet 7 together (dc7tog), and slip stitch (slst).
Double crochet 6 together (dc6tog): Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook. (Yarn over, insert hook into next stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook)x5. Yarn over, pull through all 7 loops on hook.
Double crochet 7 together (dc7tog): Yarn over, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook. (Yarn over, insert hook into next stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook)x6. Yarn over, pull through all 8 loops on hook.

Row 1: Ch15, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in ea ch across. — 13 dcs
Row 2: Ch3 (counts as dc), 1dc in ea of next 2 dcs, dc7tog over next 7 dcs, dc in ea of last 3 dcs. — 7 dcs
Row 3: Ch3, dc6tog over next 6 dcs. Do not fasten off. — 1 dc
Second Motif:
Row 1: Ch9, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in ea of next 5 chs, work 6dc evenly spaced across side of prev motif. — 13 dcs
Rows 2 – 3: Rep rows 2 – 3 of first motif.
Third – Twenty-third Motif:
Work same as second motif.
Second Column of Motifs:
First Motif:
Row 1: Ch9, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in ea of next 5 chs, work 6dc evenly spaced across right-hand side of prev motif. — 13 dcs
Row 2: Ch3 (counts as dc), dc in ea of next 2 dcs, dc7tog over next 7 dcs, dc in ea of last 3 dcs. — 7 dcs
Row 3: Ch3, dc6tog over next 6 sts. Do not fasten off. — 1 dcs
Second Motif:
Row 1: Ch3 (counts as dc), work 6dc evenly spaced across last motif crocheted, work 6dcs evenly spaced across side of next motif directly below. — 13 dcs
Rows 2 – 3: Rep rows 2 – 3 of first motif.
Third – Twenty-third Motifs:
Work same as second motif.
Third – Sixth Columns of Motifs:
Rep second column. Fasten off at end of last motif.
Pockets (make 2):
Work in established pattern to make 2 squares of fabric, 3 motifs wide x 3 motifs tall. Do not fasten off.
Pocket Edging:
Work 1 round of 2sc in ea row-end around, fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing pocket to shawl.
Assembly:
Sew 3 sides of pocket to shawl, centering it width wise across the 6 columns of motifs, and 5 motifs from edge (see schematic).
Finishing:
Weave in loose ends. Hand wash, block to finished measurements and allow to dry.
