Easy No-Knead Bread Free Recipe by Kristin Omdahl
This is an incredibly easy recipe to make delicious bread at home with only 4 ingredients. The rest time is long, but the effort is so minimal! Once you mix the ingredients together, there is no more labor. You do not need to knead this dough at all.
The amount of salt is listed with 2 amounts because of how you may intend to eat the finished bread. With 2 tsp salt, the bread is salty. If you prefer a less salty taste, use 1 tsp of salt. Or if you intend to use salty ingredients on the bread. Sweet ingredients on the saltier bread are delicious.
This bread can also be modified with other ingredients. You could add fresh or dried herbs, olives, cheese, onions, garlic or so many other kinds of spice and flavors.
I would add 1 tsp dried herbs in any combination or 1 TBSP fresh herbs, and or 1/4 cup cheese or other food items like chopped olives or fruit. You would add these just before forming the risen dough into loaves.
Ingredients for Easy No-Knead Bread Free Recipe:
-
3 cups all purpose flour
-
1 1/2 to 1 3/4 cups warm, room temperature water
-
2 tsp dry active yeast
-
1 – 2 tsp salt, depending on type of salt used (I prefer sea salt or Himalayan pink salt)
Directions for Easy No-Knead Bread Free Recipe:
-
Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl until well combined. You want the dough to be sticky and wet. I like to start with 1 1/2 cups water and add little bits of the extra water until the wet dough consistency is reached.
-
Cover bowl with 2 tea towels and leave on counter for minimum of 2 hours or up to 12 hours. You want the dough to be doubled in size.
Note: One tea towel didn’t weight down enough and I found the surface of the dough to dry out. Adding a second tea towel keeps the dough surface moist but still allows air flow to make the yeast grow. -
Preheat oven to 450 degrees with dutch oven inside. I found mine HERE
-
Use extra flour on counter to help you form wet dough into one large or two small loaves and place on parchment paper.
-
Optional: Score top of dough with sharp, serrated knife for decoration.
-
Once oven is pre-heated, place the bread in the dutch oven and cover.
-
Bake for 30 minutes covered, then an additional 10 minutes uncovered.
-
Let cool completely before slicing. This is the hardest part!
Enjoy!

No sugar at all in recipe? And do you grease the Dutch oven?
No sugar. And no I do not. The parchment paper is sufficient for a non-stick surface for the bread.
My apologies I missed the parchment paper part! Thank you for the reply, looking forward to try this out.
