Stitch Abbreviations (US Terms)

  • ch – Chain
  • sl st – Slip Stitch
  • dc – Double Crochet
  • hdc – Half Double Crochet
  • tr – Treble Crochet
  • dtr – Double Treble Crochet

Special Joining Techniques

  • Chain 3 Join: Ch 1, sl st into adjacent motif’s ch-3 space, ch 1.
  • Chain 5 Join: Ch 2, sl st into adjacent motif’s ch-5 space, ch 2.
  • Chain 7 Join: Ch 3, sl st into adjacent motif’s ch-7 space, ch 3.

Six-sided Hexagon Motif:

Ch5, slst to 5th ch from hook to form ring.

Round 1: Ch1, sc in ring, (ch5, sc in ring)x5, ch2, dc in sc at beg of round to join (ch2, dc counts as last ch5 sp). — 6 ch5 sps

Round 2: Ch1, sc in same sp, (ch5, sc in next ch5 sp)x5, ch5, slst to first sc at beg of round to join. — 6 ch5 sps

Round 3: Slst into first ch5 sp, ch3 (counts as dc), 4dc in same sp, (ch3, 5dc in next ch5 sp)x5, ch1, hdc in top of ch3 at beg of round to join (ch1, hdc counts as last ch3 sp). — 6 ch3 sps

Round 4: Ch1, sc in same sp, [ch3, skip 2 dcs, (2dc, ch6, slst in 5th ch from hook ch1, 2dc) in next dc, ch3, skip 2 dcs, sc in next ch3 sp]x6 except on last repeat replace last sc with slst to top of sc at beg of round to join. — 6 ch5 sps

Round 5: Ch1, sc in same sc, [ch9, 3dc-cl in next ch5 sp, ch9, sc in next sc]x5, ch9, 3dc-cl in next ch5 sp, ch4, dtr in top of sc at beg of round to join (ch4, dtr counts as last ch9 sp). — 12 ch9 sps

Round 6: Ch6 (counts as dc, ch3), [5dc in next ch9 sp, ch2, (dc, ch3, dc) in next cluster st, ch2, 5dc in next ch9 sp, ch3]x5, 5dc in next ch9 sp, ch2, (dc, ch3, dc) in next cluster st, 4dc in next ch9 sp, slst to top of ch3 at beg of round to join. — 12 ch3 sps

Note: When joining motifs per schematic, replace ch3 corners with ch3 joins, replace ch5 sps with ch5 joins, and replace ch7 sps with ch7 joins.

Four-sided Partial Motif:

Ch5, slst to 5th ch from hook to form ring.

Round 1: Ch1, sc in ring, (ch5, sc in ring)x5, ch2, dc in sc at beg of round to join (ch2, dc counts as last ch5 sp), turn. — 6 ch5 sps

Two-Sided Partial Motif

Joining Motifs:

Use the schematics and charts as your guide for joining each motif together. Replace the ch3 sps on the corners with ch3 joins. Along the sides, replace the ch5 sps with ch5 joins and replace the ch7 sps with ch7  joins.

Neck:

Working along end of rows, join yarn with slst in any row-end stitch. Ch1, work 12sc in ea row end st around neck opening, slst to first sc at beg of round to join. 

Fasten off.

Finishing:

Weave in loose ends. Hand wash, block to finished measurements and allow to dry.
