Little Hickory Turquoise Knit Lace Cape FREE Pattern by Kristin Omdahl
A half-circle, bottom-up-construction begins with scalloped edging and continues into lace pattern of offset scales with deceptively simple singular row of concentrated decreases to create yoke, and the ties are knit simultaneously into the collar before bind off.

Materials:
• 1 skein Be So Fine Yarn by Kristin Omdahl (4oz/113g, 650yds/594m, 100% bamboo) in Turquoise
• Size US 8 (5mm) circular knitting needle, 36” or longer, or size to obtain correct gauge
• Yarn needle
#1 Fingering Weight Yarn
Gauge:
13 sts and 17 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Lace pat after blocking
Special Stitch
K2togfb (knit 2 together through front and back): K2tog without dropping sts off left needle, knit same 2 sts
together again through the back loop, drop sts off left needle.
Special Techniques:
Knit cast-on: Place slip-knot on left needle, * k1 without dropping st off left needle, sl new st to left needle; rep from * for required number of sts.
Cable Cast-on: Cast on 2 sts onto left needle using simple cast on,* insert right needle between 2 sts on left needle and pull up a loop, sl this new st to left needle; rep from * for required number of sts.
Lace Pattern:
(multiple of 30 sts + 5)
Row 1 (and all WS rows): Knit.
Row 2 (RS): K2tog, * yo, k1, yo, ssk, k2, [ssk, yo] twice, [k2tog, yo] twice, k2tog, (k1, yo, k1) in next st, [ssk, yo], 3 times, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k2, k2tog; rep from * to last 3 sts, yo, k1, yo, ssk.
Row 4: K1, * k3, yo, ssk, k1, ssk, yo, k1, [k2tog, yo] twice, k2tog, k1, (k1, yo, k1) in next st, k1, [ssk, yo] twice, ssk, k1, yo, k2tog, k1, k2tog, yo; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.
Row 6: K2tog, * yo, k1, [yo, ssk] twice, ssk, [yo, k2tog] 3 times, k2, (k1, yo, k1) in next st, k2, [ssk, yo] 3 times, k2tog twice, yo, k2tog; rep from * to last 3 sts, yo, k1, yo, ssk.

Instructions
First Scallop
Cast on 19 sts using Knit Cast-on.
Row 1: K19.
Row 2: K10, turn,
Row 3: K2, turn.
Rows 3-19: Knit 1 more st than prev row, turn.
Do not bind off.
Additional Scallops
Cast on 19 more sts using Knit Cast-on, and work second scallop same as first scallop.
Work 13 more scallops the same way – 15 scallops, 285 sts.
Next row (RS): K18, k2togfb, * k17, k2togfb; rep from * to last st, k1 – 285 sts.
Begin Lace Pattern
Row 1 (and all WS rows): Knit.
Row 2: Work 5 sts in Garter st, work in Lace pat beg with a pat row 2 to last 5 sts, work 5 sts in Garter st.
Work 38 more rows in established pats.
Next 6 rows:
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: K5, * k2, [k2tog 9 times, k3tog 3 times] 10 times, k3; rep from * last 5 sts, k5 – 135 sts.
Rows 3- 5: Knit.
Row 6: Work 5 sts in Garter st, work in Lace pat beg with a pat row 2 to last 5 sts, work 5 sts in Garter st.
Work 22 more rows in established pats.
Next 2 rows: Cast on 25 sts using Cable Cast-on, knit to end – 186 sts
Knit 2 rows, then bind off all sts snugly.
Finishing
Hand wash. Block to measurements and allow to dry. Weave in loose ends.
