Crochet Creations: Light & Airy Summer Wear by Kristin Omdahl

We are right smack dab in the middle of bathing suit season and let’s face it. It has been a long, hot summer already in some areas of the country and it’s far from over. When headed to the pool or the beach what we all crave is that perfect cover up to pop on over our bathing suits that makes us feel fabulous and confident.

Shopping for one online can be a chore, will it fit right, and will it be of a good quality once it arrives at your door? I think many of us have had the experience where the photos can be deceiving, and you end up disappointed with the actual product.

That’s the beauty in learning to crochet. When you make something by hand yourself you get to choose the materials and the care that goes into the creation.

The Audra Crochet Poncho for example creates a blended light weight lace fabric in any color you love or that goes with your bathing suit! While keeping with the beach motif, I decided to add in a beach bag assortment of two patterns as well. Mix colors or match your cover up, you really can get very creative.

The poncho pattern is created so that you can leave the sides as open slits or thread a belt through for a more tailored look.

 

This is a project that is well worth the time and effort. You are sure to get looks and people stopping you asking “Where did you get that cover up? I love it!”.
