How To Make Organic Sugar Scrub FREE Recipe
by Kristin Omdahl
Years ago when I first starting researching yarn on the internet, I read an article about the importance of exfoliating your hands before spinning silk fibers into yarn so you don’t snag the fibers while you are working. In the article, it was explained to me that sugar scrubs were milder than salt scrubs and that when the sugar breaks down into glycolic acid on your skin, it has the same effect as an expensive fruit peel! I did further research and discovered glycolic acid penetrates the skin and breaks down the bonds of skin cells, encouraging cell turnover and generating fresher, younger looking skin. Sugar is also a natural humectant, which means it draws moisture from the environment and into the skin! Anything that can help hydrate the skin and retain moisture is a good thing! Sugar’s small particles make an excellent topical exfoliant because it scrubs off the dead surface skin cells and reveal the glowing, healthy-looking skin underneath. Use once a week to once a month for amazing results. I have been enjoying this incredible beauty treatment ever since. It never gets old for me to feel the difference in my skin after each use. It is like a budget facial to me!
But don’t take my word for it, try it yourself. You will be amazed at the effects after only one use of sugar scrub on your face, lips, hands and or full body!
My recipe combines several important ingredients: organic raw sugar, brown sugar, coconut oil, mango butter, avocado oil and vitamin E oil.
Here are a few of the benefits of these powerful, natural ingredients:
Organic Raw Sugar: natural humectant, mild exfoliant
Brown Sugar: natural humectant, mild exfoliant
Coconut Oil: naturally antibacterial and antifungal, excellent moisturizer
Mango Butter: super anti-oxidant, deep moisturizer, clears blemishes, delays wrinkles, treats eczema and psoriasis, rich in many nutrients, maintains skin’s elasticity & flexibility, soothes sunburn, and heals minor cuts and rashes. *I use this ingredient in all of my body and hair care products!
Avocado Oil: hydrates and moisturizes skin, natural shield from ultraviolet radiation, heals chapped skin, and calms itchy skin. *I use this ingredient in all of my body and hair care products!
Vitamin E Oil: natural preservative, fights against free radicals, reduces wrinkles and full of anti-oxidants. *I use this ingredient on all of my body and hair care products!
Organic Sugar Scrub FREE Recipe:1/2 cup mango butter
1/2 cup coconut oil
3/4 cup avocado oil
3/4 cup organic raw sugar
2 cups organic brown sugar
1 TBSP vitamin E oil
This recipe sizes up beautifully if you are interested in making a larger batch for gifts. While vitamin E oil is a natural preservative, I recommend using this product within 6 months of making it.
1. Melt the mango butter and coconut oil into liquid form.
2. Cool to room temperature.
3. Whip these ingredients until light and fluffy.
3. Fold in the remaining ingredients.
4. Place in a container with a tight sealing lid.
Suggested use:
Begin with wet skin – warm to hot water is ideal to soften the skin and gently open the pores. Step out of the way of the water while you exfoliate (if you are in the shower).
For face, lips, neck and décolletage: Apply the sugar scrub in a circular motion with gentle pressure. A little goes a long way! Gently rub a small amount on your face and lips in tiny circles to exfoliate delicate skin. RiWipe off with a damp cloth.
For feet, heels, elbows, hands, legs and any other part of your body: Please exfoliate in the same way but you can apply more pressure as you see fit.
Rinse off with warm water. Pat dry and if possible, stay in a robe or other loose garment for 20 minutes to allow the incredible oils to absorb into your skin.
