Sporty Cakes Colorblock Infinity Loop Scarf FREE Knitting Pattern

This scarf is a one hank project featuring Sporty Cakes – a self-striping, 4-color center pull ball of Be So Sporty Yarn. WIth this yarn, the color-blocking is already done for you! And it makes a really generous sized scarf so you can wrap it several times around your neck for even more pop of color!
What you will need:
(1) Sporty Cake of Be So Sporty Yarn; 100% bamboo, sport weight yarn; 325 yards per 4oz; color shown is Cheeky Vibe
US9 (5.5mm) circular knitting needles, 16″
Yarn needle
#2 Sport Weight Yarn
Gauge:
Finished size: 76″ long x 5″ wide doubled (scarf is tubular)
Instructions:
CO 50 sts, join in ring, being careful not to twist. Leave 18″ for the tail.
Round 1: knit around. — 50 sts
Rep round 1 until you are almost out of yarn.
BO all sts, leaving 18″ for the tail.
With yarn needle, cinch the cast on edge tightly. Repeat for the bind off edge.
Weave in loose ends. Wash, block to finished measurements and let dry.

I’m confused about this pattern. I understand I’d be knitting a long tube. I don’t understand the "cinching" part. After that do you seam the ends? thanks.
The cinching is optional, you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to 🙂 I thought it looked nice to cinch them before seaming. You just thread the tail through all the stitches and pull tightly.
