I thoroughly love dyeing yarn. I love coming up with the inspiration, deciding on the palette, determining how to hand massage the colors to blend them beautifully (and thus create secondary colors). In the previous handpainted color ways, I started from a blank canvas, so to speak.
In the newest 3 colorways, I reflected on the existing 17 color hand-dyed pallette of Be So Fine and Be So Sporty Yarn. Within this color palette, there are 3 smaller palettes: purples, pinks/reds and blues/greens. The challenge for me this time was to create beautiful handpainted yarns AND make them to coordinate with the existing semi-solid colors.

This was especially challenging and I am thrilled to say I think I was successful at meeting both challenges.

I can’t exactly say that the original yarns were ordinary, but I DO think these new ones are truly extraordinary!

Jamaica Bay is the blue/green color way I hand painted to coordinate with Sun Kissed Yellow, Harbor Fog, Stormy Sea, Blue Danube, Jaded Peacock and Caribbean Turquoise. It has deep blue and teal, bright blue and green, soft yellow and bronze-y sand tones. In the photos you can see how it complements the other colors. It would be beautiful on its own of course, but especially fun in color work. Be So Fine Yarn and Be So Sporty Yarn are both available in this color way.
