Drop Stitch Shawl, Poncho and/or Infinity Loop Scarf FREE Knit Pattern

Drop Stitch Shawl, Poncho and/or Infinity Loop Scarf FREE Knit Pattern

by Kristin Omdahl

Drop Stitches are a great way to get the maximum sized project from the minimal yardage of yarn! It’s a great way to stretch a luxury yarn to its greatest potential. If you have 450 yards, make the shawl/poncho or if you have 300 yards, make the infinity loop scarf! Note: this yardage is based on sport weight thickness either by one strand (Be So Sporty Yarn would be a great substitute) or combining two lacier strands together (like I did in both samples)

Materials:
1 (2) hanks Be So Sporty Yarn; 100% bamboo, sport weight yarn; 325 yards per 4oz hank.
US6 (4mm) knitting needles
Yarn needle

#2 Sport Weight Yarn

Be So Sporty Yarn

Gauge: not critical for this project

Finished size:
15″ wide x 48″ circumference (smaller version)
22″ wide x 56″ tall (larger version)

Instructions:
CO 33 (47) sts
Row 1: knit across
Rep row 1 until pieces measures 48 (56)” long. *Bind off as follows: BO 5 sts and pull the balls of yarn through the last stitch to fasten off, knit the next 2 sts. Rep from * to last 5 sts: BO last 5 sts. You should have 4 (6) sections of 2 sts still on the needle. Slide these stitches off of the needle and let them unravel down to the cast on edge. This will take a bit of gentle manipulation as sometimes the stitches will get stuck.

Wash, block to finished measurements and let dry.
