Golden Sunset Knit Shawl FREE Pattern

This beautiful shawl is a top down half circle shawl that begins with a beautiful floral design and continues into a simple linear lace pattern for the remainder of the shawl.  The drape is out of this world. The floral pattern and set up for the simple linear lace pattern are featured in a video tutorial, too.

What you will need:

  • 650 yds (594m) #2 sport weight yarn

  • US8 (5mm) circular knitting needles

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors

Shown in:

Be So Sporty Yarn; 100% bamboo; 325 yds (297m) per 4oz (113g); shown in color Pure Gold, 2 balls.

Be So Sporty BLING Yarn; 90% bamboo / 10% silver; 300 yds per 4oz (113g); 3 balls.

Be So Soulful Yarn; 87% bamboo, 13% sorona, 380yds per 4oz (113g), 2 balls.

#2 Sport Weight Yarn

Gauge: 12 sts / 12 rows = 4 in (10cm) after blocking.

Finished size: 66 in (167.6cm) wide x 30 in (76.2cm) tall.

Instructions:

Set up rows:

CO 5 sts, knit 10 rows.

Shawl:

Row 1: Knit 5 sts, pm, turn 90 degrees to the left, knit 6 sts along edge of rows, pm, turn 90 degrees to the left, knit 5 sts along cast on edge. — 16 sts

Note: Maintain the 5 sts on each side of work in garter stitch for remainder of shawl.

Row 2: Knit across.

Row 3: K5, (k1, yo)x6, k5. — 22 sts

Row 4 (and even numbered rows): K5, sm, purl to next marker, sm, k5.

Row 5: K5, (yo, k1) x12, k5. — 34 sts

Row 7: K5, (k1, yo, k1, yo, k2) x6, k5. — 46 sts

Row 9: K5, (k2, yo, k1, yo, k3) x6, k5. — 58 sts

Row 11: K5, (k3, yo, k1, yo, k4) x6, k5. — 70 sts

Bind off loosely.

Finishing:

Hand wash, block to finished measurements and allow to dry.
